Lismore Community Garden

In October 2009 Rainbow Region Community Garden signed a lease agreement with the Lismore City Council for a 5000 m² site on Brewster St (cnr Magellan St) in Lismore. Work has started at the Community Garden site. Click here to view photos of the progress at the site.

 The Natural Birth and Education Centre

A community garden was set up in the grounds of the Natural Birth and Education Centre on Lindendale Road in Lindendale. This consists of a vegetable plots, growing a variety of summer

and winter crops. Work was also undertaken on established fruit trees and the banana plantation on the site, as well as helping the people at the Birth Centre on various tasks. Again, work was carried out by volunteers and participants in two RRCF sponsored Work for the Dole Projects. Produce is both sold and given to the Birth Centre and volunteers. Over the two years that the site has been operating, produce sales have amounted to about $10,000 and these funds are being used to help the development on the Community Garden in Lismore.
