On Friday the 16th of October 2009, the official opening ceremony was held at the community garden site.

Jenny Dowell, the Mayor of Lismore, was kind enough to donate her time to take part in the event.

After the obligatory speeches, Jenny performed the official ribbon cutting ceremony before turning the first sod at the site.
